How You and Your Friends Can Take Action to Help Your Homeless Neighbors
Who can participate?
Collections drive: Individuals, businesses, church groups, community groups, youth groups
Distribution: Groups of 5 or more adults and teens 13 years old and older
Outreach: Adults only
Cold Weather Clothing and Supply Drive – Can include one, several or all of the following items:

Waterproof gloves

Warm socks

Blankets
-
Hand warmers (packets)

Winter coats

Men’s shoes
Camping Equipment

Tents

Sleeping bags

Small tarps
-
Stoves
-
Pads for sleeping - yoga pads
Clothing and Supplies Distribution
If your group wants to be part of handing these out, staff will be available to keep the Mission open late on Mondays and Thursdays. A good time for distribution would be 4:30 – 6:30. If your group would like to serve hot chocolate or pass out cookies during distribution, you would be welcome to do that. Groups of 5 or more are good for distribution, with 2-3 more if including food.
Food

Prepare and serve a dinner meal with enough to feed 25-30 people

KRM only has a kitchenette without a stove or oven, so food that needs to be served hot should come in serving pans/pots that are electrical or use sterno

Hot Chocolate Table

Bring instant hot chocolate to prepare and serve to the guests

You may also bring cookies to hand out

Sandwiches

We can always use sandwiches in the Dayroom.

Make sandwiches and drop them off to us – or set up a time to hand them out

Food Distribution
If serving hot chocolate or sandwiches, set up a time with our Dayroom manager, to come in during the day. If you’d like to serve a meal, staff are available to keep the Mission open late on Mondays and Thursdays until 6:30.
Who can do this? Adults, and youth groups with teens ages 13 and older are welcome.

Dropping Off Items
Donated items can be dropped any time we are open: Monday – Friday 9:00 – 5:00.
If dropping off large quantities, let us know you are here and we will open our back door off the alley to help with unloading.

If you would like to be part of a team distributing cold weather items and supplies to the unsheltered in our community, please contact our Shelter Manager, Jeff Sanders. This activity is only suitable for adults.
